A national retailer has opened a new convenience store in a Wiltshire town centre.

The new Morrisons Daily store opened on February 9 at Phelps Parade in Calne after nearly two weeks of refurbishment work at the unit.

The premises had previously been a Martin’s shop and Post Office but has now been rebranded by the retail giant after closing on January 30 for renovations.

Despite the change, the Post Office counter will continue to operate.

A Morrisons spokesperson said: "The new Morrisons Daily fresh food convenience store is now open and will offer customers a careful tailored mix of Morrisons own brand products alongside branded favourites.

"Fresh food is at the heart of the store and we hope customers will love it."

The latest addition to the town centre comes as the chain continues to expand its Morrisons Daily portfolio.

Morrisons purchased all 1,160 of McColl’s shops in May 2022 and many have since been rebranded as Morrisons Daily convenience stores.

At the time of the merger, Morrisons chief executive David Potts said: “This transaction offers stability and continuity for the McColl’s business and, in particular, a better outcome for its colleagues and pensioners.

“We all look forward to welcoming many new colleagues into the Morrisons business and to building on the proven strength of the Morrisons Daily format.”
