A busy Wiltshire A-road is set to close for weeks - sending motorists on a near 40-mile diversion route.

The A360 will shut at both West Lavington and Littleton Panell from February 14 until March 8, between the hours of 7pm and 11.59pm.

Motorists will be unable to access the route from the junction with Russel Mill Lane to the junction with Rutts Lane.

During this time Wiltshire Council will be carrying out carriageway resurfacing works including adjustments to road markings, ironworks, and other associated works.

The council has advised drivers to use a diversion route spanning nearly 40 miles during the closure, via the A342, The Packway, and the B3086.

If followed all the way, this would take motorists via Devizes, Rushall, Durrington, Shrewton, and Tilshead.

Access will be maintained for residents and businesses with the Littleton Panell High Street due to shut during the works.

Despite this, the council has warned that delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

A closure notice added: “It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions.

“The order will have a maximum duration of 18 months.”
