A Wiltshire cake shop is set to close permanently with its town centre unit now on the market.

Rubydoocakes was opened by owner Louise Skeates on New Road in Chippenham, in March last year, after moving from its previous home on the corner of Station Hill.

The independent business, which Ms Skeates started by selling cakes on Facebook, has a large social media following but has now announced it will close its Chippenham store.

In a statement on Facebook, Ms Skeates said: “It’s with a very heavy heart that the Rubydoocakes shop will close its doors in Chippenham for the final time on Saturday, January 6.

“I’d like to thank my amazing team for all their support over the last 12 months.

“It’s been a very difficult health journey for me and they have just been wonderful at keeping things going whilst I’ve been so poorly.”

The property is currently being marketed to potential new occupants for £1,542 per month.

The shop will remain open every day, including Saturday, before closing its doors to the public for good.

During that time a “closing down” sale is running, and all items in the premises will be available including all shop fixtures, fridges, counters, and fittings.

While the store is closing the Rubydoocakes business will continue selling cakes and other sweet treats.
