The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust’s annual clothes sale returned for 2023 with a bang, as Lady Lansdowne and the Mayor and Mayoress of Marlborough opened the highly anticipated event.

The clothes sale, which has expanded year on year, is a huge event for the town and provides vital funds to help vulnerable people in Wiltshire.

By selling pre-loved and brand-new donated clothes at low prices, Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust has been able to raise thousands of pounds for their charity.

This year, the sale took place on Friday, November 17, at Marlborough Town Hall, and members of the charity credit the hard work of volunteers for the success.

“This is our 12th year holding the clothes sale,” explained Jennie Shaw, director of the Trust.

“They originally started off at my home and now we run three a year, in Marlborough, Calne and Mere.

“Our sales offer couture and designer clothes plus everyday wear, and we are extremely fortunate and grateful for the community’s support.

“The sales have become an important part of our fundraising calendar,” she added.

Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust works closely with Wiltshire Police, and the money raised by the Trust goes towards helping elderly and vulnerable people who have been victims of or are considered to be at risk of crime, domestic abuse and fire.

“Clothes that aren’t sold are also donated to Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Services for their retail shop in Swindon, so no donation is wasted,” said Ms Shaw.
