Two men have been arrested after a spate of burglaries and car break-ins across Wiltshire.

Over the last two months there have been a series of thefts and burglaries in the rural villages surrounding Devizes, Trowbridge and Melksham.

On Saturday, February 4, police raided a property in Bradford on Avon where they were able to recover a large number of items that they believe were stolen in these break-ins.

A 34-year-old man from Bradford on Avon and a 27-year-old from Amesbury were both arrested on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and handling stolen goods.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

Both men have now been released on bail.

The police are now appealing for those who may recognise the recovered items to come forward, to help establish their origin, and have warned the public to exercise caution.

A spokesperson said: “We are now trying to establish the origin and ownership of the property stolen.

“If you know who the items in the pictures belong to, please contact us on 101 quoting log 54230005629.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

“We would like to remind the public to keep vehicles locked overnight, not leave their vehicle’s keys inside their vehicles and ensure outbuildings are kept secure overnight.

“Local officers have increased patrols overnight in the rural villages and this will continue for the foreseeable future.”
