A NEW beauty salon is being launched by a young Wiltshire mum who just two years ago was starting out at her kitchen table.

Summer Pettengale, 24, was treating customers at her Chippenham home in 2021 and was fully booked within a year.

She is now set to open Flourish Beauty Studio and Training Academy, on Northgate Street in Devizes, on Thursday, February 23, after previously renting a space in Chippenham.

The building, which used to host a tattoo parlour, is undergoing extensive renovations ahead of the studio’s opening.

Mrs Pettengale was thrilled that her business had reached such a landmark moment in such a short space of time.

She said: “I’m extremely excited, this is something that I have dreamed about for a very, very long time.

“It’s definitely grown quicker than I thought it would, but people buy from people, so when you’re a good person and make great relationships with your clients you get recommendations and that’s helped grow the business so quickly.

“The birth of my son has given me the push to go and do it so I’m really looking forward to it… I felt this was my time to open.”

The town’s newest salon will offer a range of beauty treatments including nail treatments, pedicures and lashes. There are also plans to offer massages at some point in the future.

Alongside these services, Mrs Pettengale, who is a fully qualified beauty trainer, will be offering education and training courses for locals hoping to enter the industry or beauticians aiming to develop their skills.

These include courses in brow lamination, lash lift and tint, gel manicure and nail extensions.

Mrs Pettengale added that Devizes is a town that holds special sentimental value for her because her grandad, who died in 2020, volunteered for the canal and river trust and has a bench dedicated to him at Caen Hill Locks.

She added: “We used to go and visit that a lot, and still do, and we often pop into the town. There’s so many lovely little cafes and it’s a lovely location.

"The shop became available and I thought it couldn’t be more perfect.”

The salon will be hosting an open evening from 3pm on Sunday, February 19 where new customers will be able to find out more and grab themselves exclusive discounts, goodie bags and sweet treats.
