Great grandmother Kathy Eyles of Marlborough has died at the age of 93.

Mrs Eyles, who lived at St Margaret's Mead, died on Monday last week at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.

The funeral took place at Kingsdown Crematorium yesterday.

Mrs Eyles is survived by her children Mick and Margaret, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was born at Nettlebed in Oxfordshire in 1914 and was the youngest of three.

Her late brother and sister were Jack Madgwick who lived at Mildenhall and Margaret Vincent of Durley.

As a child Mrs Eyles moved around a lot with her family and lived in Woodland St Mary, Baydon where she went to school, Colthrop near Thatcham, Leigh Hill and High Trees in Savernake Forest where she attended Cadley School.

She married Jack Eyles at Cadley Church in 1939 and moved to Manton Down where he worked for the late maestro of Manton, George Todd.

Her son Mick was born at Manton and then Mr and Mrs Eyles moved to live in St Martin's in Marlborough.

She worked for the former butchers Searle and Bernard in the day and at night at the former Children's Convalescent Hospital on The Common.

In 1965 Mr and Mrs Eyles moved to Queensway and she did home work for Pelham puppets and was a cleaner at Waitrose.

Mr Eyles died in 1978 and their dog Flash became a great part of his wife's life.

In 1997 she moved in with her son Mick and daughter-in-law Margaret in St Margaret's Mead.

She enjoyed being a member of the Sunshine Club, the Jubilee Centre and attending the day centre at Coombe End House.
