Sunday's performance against Yeovil was a disappointment, and while Paul Sturrock started with players who have done relatively well, the team that finished may be more indicative of future selections.

I wonder how many times I have said this, but by now the takeover may have happened, and Luggy's backroom support might finally have become clear.

The introduction of Jose Veiga to the pitch at half-time on Sunday did little to cast any light on the character or credentials of any of those behind the prospective board. The chairman designate Jim Little didn't endear himself to me when he mentioned that Town fans would be able to dictate how they wanted their entertainment dollars'' to be spent.

American marketing speak will not help get suspicious Town supporters on his side. I laughed out loud when Mr Little expressed his hope that a new stadium development would be breaking ground within six months''. Sorry Jim, you know nothing about Swindon Borough Council. But good luck.

After the appearance of Veiga, the chat rooms were alive with gossip that Sturrock was not happy and about to jump ship. A new general manager, as well as a sporting director in the shape of Rufus Brevett threatens to dilute his decision-making power.

If he were to leave now it would be an act completely out of character with everything I've learned to trust about the man. Sturrock seems a man of honour and I live in hope he is a little better informed than us.

n This month is a momentous one for me. My first book is due to hit the shelves. I always suspected that Town would one day manifest itself in print under my name, and Swindon Town - The Fans' Choice is the outcome.

Reality began to hit home when I was sent a list of people who pre-ordered copies. When I spotted that some people had ordered more than one, I couldn't help but feel the pressure.

There is a worry there will be some horrendous mistake, such as the jacket announcing: The Fans' Choc Ice, and my name given as Wall's.

Thanks for the vote of confidence everyone and I hope you all enjoy the read. We're all on the same side of the fence as people who love this club more than most sane people understand.
