The Labour party has lined up its candidate for the new Chippenham parliamentary constituency.
Nick Thomas-Symonds has been named as the Labour candidate and will battle for the seat during the next election.
Mr Thomas-Symonds will face Conservative heavyweight Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, known as the Black Farmer, and Liberal Democrat Duncan Hames.
Mr Thomas-Symonds, said: "I am looking forward to putting the case for the next stage of Labour policies to secure a fourth-term Labour Government.
"My main concerns for the area are health, transport and affordable housing."
Mr Thomas-Symonds lecturers on the politics and history of the Labour Party at Oxford University and is also a criminal barrister.
The constituency was created last year.
Chippenham was formerly part of North Wiltshire and Westbury constituencies.
