Police are hunting a road rage driver who terrorised four teenagers into abandoning their car so he could drive it into a brick wall.

The drivers of the two cars were involved in an argument on Tuesday evening near the cinema on Bristol Road, Chippenham.

The disagreement then escalated and the two cars, a new type Volkswagen Golf and a new Skoda Roomster, started cutting each other up and smashing into each other along Bristol Road.

The Golf driver, who had a female passenger, forced the Skoda to pull over at Door World, Bristol Road.

The four teenagers in the Skoda told police they were so terrified of the driver they all left the car and ran away -leaving the keys in the ignition.

The man, described as in white, in his 30s and of stocky build, jumped into the Skoda and deliberately smashed the car into a brick wall causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage.

When the teenagers returned to their car they saw the front end had been destroyed.

Police are keen to trace the driver or the female passenger of the dark green or blue mark six Golf.

Chippenham Police said: "We believe this man could be local as his car was substantially damaged. He wouldn't have been able to drive that far.

"We are keen to speak to the driver or his female passenger.

"Anyone who knows the driver or sees the car should contact police immediately"

Any witnesses should call 0845 408 7000.
