BLUE DIVISION

Playing with just eight players Bradford Town Youth knew they had a mountain to climb against a strong Warminster Highbury side.

Through sheer determination and a never give up attitude Bradford amazingly were 3-0 up in under ten minutes with George White scoring all three.

Warminster fought hard back taking the score to 3-2 before White found the back of the net again. Highbury came back before the break to level the score at 4-4.

The second half saw Bradford's keeper Max King continue his superb performance denying Warminster many chances.

Bradford's Nathan King found the back of the net with a super strike before White hit his fifth goal of the game.

Warminster pulled one back but could not deny the home side a well earned three points with a 6-5 final score.

Amesbury Juniors ran out 4-2 winners away to Devizes Town Youth. Josh Thompson scored both goals for Devizes.

The first game of the season produced a local derby between FC Chippenham and AFC Corsham. It was Chippenham who started the brighter and took the lead after five minutes when Corsham failed to clear a cross and the ball broke to Chris Baker who tucked the ball home from six yards.

This was a mile stone goal for Baker as it was his first game back after his leg break last season. Chippenham threatened to extend their lead but as the game went on Corsham began to settle down.

Corsham nearly drew level through Josh May who hit a volley from twenty yards that was well taken by the Chippenham keeper from under his cross bar.

Corsham did equalise just before half time. Nicholas Chandler stooped to head a well taken goal from a corner.

In the second half the game began to open up as the warm weather took its toll. Chippenham had a couple of chances to re-take the lead but Adam Mitchell in the Corsham goal was on fine form.

Corsham's second goal came from a well worked move. Hugh Taylor played the ball out of defence to William Jacomb who swept the ball out to Kalif Barnes on the wing.

He exchanged a quick one-two with Harry Roberts and then played in debutant Matthew Hughes who fired the ball low into the corner of the net.

Chippenham continued to press and only great last minute defending from Harry Hoyle and Nicky Richer prevented Chippenham from drawing level.

Corsham then broke away to extend their lead. Quick work by Danny Clayton played in Josh Hard who beat the keeper to the ball and laid it off to Kalif Barnes to place it into the net.

Corsham's defence, which was worked hard by Chippenham, was well marshalled by Dan McCartan. Corsham completed the scoring when Harry Roberts played in James Smith who held off the challenge of the defender and fired a shot home from the edge of the area.

It was a well fought game which could have gone either way, with Corsham taking their chances and Chippenham being defied by Corsham's defence and, in particular, by their in form goal keeper, Adam Mitchell.

The Melksham Town Youth Blue versus Trowbridge Town Youth game was always going to be close after finishing first and second in the league, respectively, last season.

Melksham came close to scoring in the first half after being awarded a penalty but failed to convert it. The game was extremely tight with neither side letting their guard down but a superb strike from Luke Love settle the affair at 1-0 to Melksham.

The game was marred when Jake Cooper was taken to hospital with a suspected broken arm.

GREEN DIVISION

Matt Hale got Bradford Town Youth Blues off to a flying start in their match against Bromham with a fine goal after just four minutes.

Bromham came back strongly and only fine goalkeeping by Alex Gough kept the away team ahead at half time.

Hale struck again after forty five minutes, chipping the Bromham keeper from close range. Bromham never gave up and a well taken penalty from Craig Askew half way through the second half brought them deservedly back into the game.

After sixty minutes Bradford's Sam Pugh, making a strong debut, put the seal on the win in a match that was a credit to both teams in very warm conditions.

Trowbridge Town Youth 2nds and Malmesbury Youth played out a close but goal less first half. After the break Trowbridge showed more confidence and were duly rewarded by scoring four goals coming from Nick Josevski, Brad Arberry, Jack Noden and Ricky Hehir.

Westbury Youth, home to Worton and Cheverall, got off to a flying start with an early goal from Ashley Hargreaves.

Some good goal keeping from Daniel Gill kept Westbury in the lead. Further goals from Kai Bingham and James Harrison gave the home side a 3-0 half time advantage.

The second half saw an early strike and second goal for Kai Bingham, with Luke Booth adding a fifth. Worton and Cheverall scored a well deserved goal, with an excellent strike from Joe Moloney, but were unable to penetrate a strong Westbury defence marshalled by defender Owain Mumford.

Both teams played in a sporting and entertaining way, despite warm conditions.

RED DIVISION

Bemerton Heath Harlequins ran out convincing 12-1 winners at home to Dilton Rovers. Bemerton saw goals from Luke Cannell, Peter Finch (2), Russell Inder (4), Jack Waters (2), Sam Perry and Zak Lewis (2). Harry Page replied for Dilton.

Marshfield Juniors took the lead through Kealan Finnegan on seven minutes in their home game against Castle Combe Colts going on to dominate much of the possession and playing good passing football.

Castle Combe never gave up and were level before the half time whistle blew. Castle Combe were quick off the mark in the second half taking an early lead with a breakaway goal.

Marshfield pressed on looking for the equaliser but could not quite finish chances off.

The game was played in good spirit by both teams on a hot day and it was a credit to youth football.

Mere were on top of the game in the first half against Chippenham Town Rangers leading 2-1 at the interval. Chippenham showed great spirit after the break taking a 3-2 lead but Mere were up to the challenge scoring a late equaliser for a 3-3 final score.

Eboni McCann (2) and Kieran Fitzgerald scored for Mere.
