But with half time looming it was Melksham who increased their lead from a corner. The second half started with Trowbridge buzzing around the Melksham goal but did not get luck, combined with some fine goalkeeping.

However, Melksham hit Trowbridge on the break twice before the end. The score line could have been more but for yet another inspired performance from Kyle Oakley.

RED DIVISION

Melksham Park and AFC Corsham resumed their friendly rivalry in this the first game of the new season.

The first half started along the lines of their two meetings last season with nothing much to choose between the two teams.

Corsham went ahead through Alexander Acklam before Melksham equalised with a well worked goal. Just before half time Corsham regained the lead with an early contender for goal of the season!

Captain Patrick Cunningham placed a corner to the edge of the penalty area from where Liam Parkes then volleyed the ball first time into the top corner of the goal.

The next goal was always going to be important and fortunately for Corsham it was debutant Joe Triki that provided the finish after a well worked move starting with Joe Pike the goalkeeper and going the full length of the pitch.

Corsham then took control of the game and played some excellent football adding further goals from fellow debutant Jay Painter (2), Patrick Cunningham and another for Alexander Acklam before Melksham added a late consolation for a 7-2 final score.

Larkhall Athletic Falcons opened their account with a 4-2 away win against Trowbridge Wanderers. Ryan Musgrove (2), George Williams and Peter Bower scored for Larkhall.
