RETIRED police officer Alan Blake got in the swing for fundraising during his year as captain at North Wilts Golf Club and has now presented more than £3,000 to charity.

Mr Blake chose Wiltshire Air Ambulance as, during his time in the police, he saw first-hand its invaluable work, and prostate cancer cause The Loganberry Trust which has benefitted his own brother-in-law.

Mr Blake, who has been a member at the club at Bishops Cannings since 1975, said: “I have served on various committees at the club for the last several years, and was elected club captain for 2017. A great honour and privilege.”

He said he chose to support The Loganberry Trust after hearing a talk from Kevin Logan from Swindon, who set up the organisation, which organises blood tests for men to give early diagnosis of prostate cancer. He said: “My own brother-in-law went for one of these tests in Chippenham, and found that his reading was high.” He thanked everyone who supported his fundraising. Each charity

received £,1512.50.
