WILTSHIRE Air Ambulance were delighted to receive a cheque of £8,700 from this year’s White Horse Challenge on Friday (November 24).

The twelfth White Horse Challenge, organised by Monahans Chartered Accountants, Rygor Commercials, and Rocking Horse Nursery, took place on July 1 and 2.

It saw walkers embark on a sponsored walk between seven and 52 miles over the scenic white horses of Wiltshire.

Zoe Meaden , marketing manager at Monahans, said: “It is a phenomenal amount of money and we are really proud of our commitment to them.

“Because of their selflessness to the community that is why we have been committed to them for such a long period of time.”

Rebecca de la Bedoyere, senior fundraising manager at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said: “We were delighted to welcome the organisers of the White Horse Challenge to our Operations Centre in Devizes to present a cheque for the proceeds of this year’s event.

“This is the twelfth time this fun and challenging walk has taken place and it has raised over £145,000 in total. This is an incredible sum and has really made a difference to our lifesaving work. We’d like to thank the organisers, the volunteer checkpoint stewards and of course all the participants for supporting us.

“We receive no regular government funding so events like this are a vital way of keeping our helicopter and crew flying.”

The 2018 White Horse Challenge will take place on July 7 and 8. Registration will open soon at http://www.whitehorsechallenge.co.uk/
