A CHOIR for children has been set up by a teacher with a passion for music to create a community choir in Devizes.

Heather Flower, 62, has been a primary school teacher for 42 years and decided to start up the music club for children aged seven to 12 when she realised there was nothing of its kind in the town.

The substitute teacher has run choirs of 50 children before and hopes that her group will be ready by Christmas to sing carols at Christmas events in the town.

Bringing her own guitar and music, the group will rehearse a variety of songs for the primary aged children.

She said: “The great thing about singing is that singing reaches out to anybody, just hearing them sing gives me goosebumps.

“People say how can you love it so much but seeing them sing is incredible and I love being with children and teaching them.

“My hope is to make it as big as possible and to attract children from across the area."

Devizes Children's Choir will be held in the Baptist Church on Sheep Street from October 25.

The class will then run every Wednesday from 4.30-5.30pm and cost £2 to attend.
