FIRE fighters in Devizes will be putting their skills with water to good effect on Saturday (29) when they hold a car wash to raise money for charity.

The crews will be in action at Devizes Fire Station from 9am to 3.30pm to raise money for two charities chosen for her mayoral year by Jane Burton.

Money raised will be split between the Firefighters Charity and Prostate Cancer which are both close to her heart as her son Dan is a firefighter and her husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The wash has been organised by watch manager Richard Lake. He said: "This is a special one for the mayor's charity and not the regular ones organised by Dorset and Wiltshire. We hope to raise between £600 and £700."

There is no set charge but people are asked to make a donation.
