AHEAD of the construction work to build 27 retirement flats in Marlborough, the developers are inviting locals to give the buildings a new name.
McCarthy and Stone will begin work on the site at Granham Hill, where the Clarke and Rodway garage used to be, in the next few weeks but have launched a 'What's in a name' competition, with the winning entry being given the chance to attend the official opening of the development, as well as receiving a cheque for £250.
Kim Caldwell, the company's regional sales and marketing director, said: "We are excited to invite people from the local area to name our latest development in Marlborough. We are looking for a name which will be relevant to the local community, and it can be anything from suggestions honouring local landmarks or scenery, to names that incorporate elements of the town’s rich history from years gone-by.
"Simply submit your idea by May 11 to be considered for the prize, and to put your stamp on a little bit of future history in the town."
To enter email mccarthyandstone@mccann.com and the judging will take place on June 30.
