THREE pupils from Hardenhuish School have created a sculpture in commemoration of soldiers who died during the First and Second World Wars.
Jack Bell, Alice Fortt and Sam Tomlin are Year 12 pupils at the school and have created a soldier using chicken wire, which will be displayed in Sainsburys in Chippenham in the run-up to Remembrance Sunday.
Named Gilbert by the students, the sculpture was inspired by members of the Wiltshire Regiment who are recognised on the Hardenhuish School war memorial.
Primary school pupils will leave messages to soldiers on the sculpture.
Headteacher at Hardenhuish School, Lisa Percy, said: “We are very pleased to have been able to support the Royal British Legion by creating this fantastic sculpture of a soldier to help engage younger generations with remembering those who gave their lives to enable a better tomorrow.”
