ADVENTURER Bear Grylls has closed his gym in Marlborough.
He introduced BG EPIC training at the pilot venue in Elcot Lane in 2014 along with his personal trainer Natalie Summers to ‘change the way people think about exercise’.
Marlborough was chosen as the test venue because Ms Summers trains in Wiltshire and Mr Grylls, who used to live in Ramsbury, aimed to visit the centre as often as possible.
A spokesman said this week: “Yes, we have closed the Marlborough Epic training facility as we progress and develop phase two of BG Epic training.
“Marlborough was very much a centre to hone and develop the BG Epic training programmes.
“We are keeping everyone posted via social media regarding BG Epic pop up events and news on our Bear Grylls Survival Races. We have some exciting new elements to BG Epic in the pipeline for 2016.”
BG EPIC Training centred around workouts to help people reach their fitness goals by creating a flexible, adaptable approach to help integrate fitness into a daily routine. They also created a fun version for children aged five to 15.
A post on the BG EPIC Training Marlborough Facebook page reads: “EPIC is definitely a word to describe all of you guys for supporting our Marlborough venue, Bear and Natalie in recent years and for being at the forefront of pioneering new workouts.
“It is thanks to your enthusiasm and outstanding fitness results that we are excited to announce BG EPIC Training will be entering a new phase of development.
“As the new chapter begins, we will wave goodbye to the Marlborough venue on January 31st 2016.
“Our BG EPIC Training Marlborough team have had an amazing time being part of your fitness journeys over the last 24 months! We are grateful for your input in helping us develop and hone our BG EPIC Training programs. We could not have done it without you! Thank you!”
