EYE-catching replicas of Avebury’s ancient stones have been created out of lights to add extra festive magic to the village.

The ‘Circle of Light’ display, in the farmyard outside the Alexander Keiller Museum, has been designed by National Trust curator Dr. Ros Cleal, and made by staff and volunteers.

Lights have been entwined in chicken wire to create the seven stones and the National Trust hope the display will encourage people to come and admire the new feature as well as explore the village.

The Old Farmyard itself is decked out for Christmas with a decorated tree outside the cafe, green foliage and decorations cheering up the farmyard, and another Christmas tree lighting up the barn interior.

For those visiting Avebury Manor, the house has been decorated in the style of Christmas’ past, a different era for each room of the manor.

Pupils from Preshute Primary School will also gathered in Avebury tomorrow (Tuesday 8) to sing carols around the Christmas tree to spectators.
