Mother and daughter team Alice and Philippa Goodall from Devizes are hoping to raise a lot of money for Cancer Research UK by taking part in the Race for Life in Salisbury on July 1.
Mrs Goodall, 49, from Kingfisher Drive, Devizes, has never run before in her life but is following the Race for Life training schedule to get fit enough for the three-mile run.
She said: "Although I have not lost anyone in my family to cancer, it touches so many lives. I hope to be ready for the run by July 1."
Philippa, 17, who is currently preparing for her AS levels at St Augustine's College in Trowbridge, sings in the choir at St John's Church in Devizes.
Anyone who would like to sponsor them can do so online at www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/agoodall Racers are also gearing up for Race For Life in Marlborough on June 3. Among those taking part will be Gazette deputy editor Joanne Moore whose mother died from ovarian cancer six years ago. Her daughter Francesca, 15, will also be doing the run as part of a team from Devizes School.
Hundreds of other women have already done their bit for Cancer Research UK by taking part in the Race For Life at Kemble Airfield near Malmesbury at the weekend.
