PUPILS past and present have been celebrating the 20th anniversary of Queens Crescent School in Chippenham over the weekend.

On Friday, current pupils enjoyed parties in their classrooms ahead of the main event on Saturday which saw former pupils, staff and parents all attend.

As well as musical and dance performances from current students, Bristol Zoo brought 'mini' beasts into the school and a children's entertainer kept the youngest guests amused with a variety of magic tricks.

Julia Hawkins, head teacher, said: "It was lovely, we had past pupils and staff turn up and it had a real community feel. It was an opportunity for people to look around the school and we had photos from the last 20 years, the pupils and staff loved looking at those.

"The parents were amazing, they all made cakes for the event which meant we were able to give all the children cake and the staff were fantastic too so it went really well."

To conclude the festivities, town mayor David Powell released 344 balloons, one for every pupil at the school, with the school waiting to hear which pupil's balloon managed to travel the furthest.

Each pupil also received a commemorative badge to celebrate the occasion and participated in a whole school photograph.
