HUNDREDS of visitors at the Foxham Horse Show on Saturday raised over £6,000 for charity and the local church.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Dorothy House, Dogs Trust, Greatwood Race Horse Rehabilitation, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institute and Practice Action are all set to benefit from the day.

Many of the charities attended the show, the largest fund raising event that Foxham village holds, to promote their worthwhile causes.

The show, now in its 29th year, saw around 400 horses compete across nine equestrian rings which saw competitive action in everything from show jumping to dressage and carriage driving.

Over 100 dogs compete in the family fun dog show and have-a-go agility ring.

Organiser Michelle Hansen said: “All round it was a really good day, which was very very well supported.

“The dog show drew people from this side of Marlborough through to the other side of Corsham, from Royal Wootton Bassett to Devizes with an equal spread of people travelling from those distances.

“The range of activities this year was most impressive and on the day we had over 80 people volunteer to run the show and that gives you a feel for the size of it and also the fantastic contribution they made to make it all happen.”

As well as the horse and dog events, the show also saw a produce and craft show, 20 trade stalls, photography competition and a barbecue.

Calne Young Farmers also appeared at the show, holding a tug of war competition, Have A Go archery with supervised instruction, and other games and activities.

The event was supported by Waitrose in Malmesbury, who provided the catering for the show's judges and stewards, and the supermarket have chosen the Horse Show as one of the 'Community Matters' charities to support this month.
