BEER-LOVERS raised a glass or two of their favourite brew at the 19th Burbage Beer Festival over the weekend.

Hundreds of thirsty revellers had the choice of more than 40 different beers and ciders at the event, which took place on Friday and Saturday at the Red Lion Playing Field, the home of the Burbage and Easton Royal Sports Club.

It was the fruity mango and strawberry ciders that were the most popular in the glorious sunshine and there were also beers from Pig on the Wall by Black Country Ales and Danish Dynamite by Stonehenge Ales.

Other included Autumn Daze by the Three Castles and Bells Bitter by Ciren Bells.

Inside the packed marquee there was entertainment on the Friday night from the KV Brass band followed by Humdinger and those who were not dancing mingled outside, as well as going to the another bar in the Pavilion.

Rob Guthrie, 26, of White Horse Road, Marlborough, said: “It was a great atmosphere. The bands were really good, there were a fair few hundred people there and they had a great variety of ciders too.”

On the Saturday, the event saw the Burbage & Easton Royal Cricket Club play a six-a-side tournament and Catch 22 performed later that night.

There was also a hog roast and BBQ to help people wash down their drinks.

Committee member Graham Milne said: “It went very well. I think on the Friday we were approaching 500 and on the Saturday we were nearer 280, it was fantastic.

“It was really good and the weather was kind to us. It was just as good if not better than last year.”

Next year, the festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary and the festival organisers will be working on what they can do to make it extra special.
