POPULAR family music event Mantonfest is returning for its fifth year on Friday and Saturday, this time with a 70s theme.

Preparations are well underway and organisers are hoping to see more than 1,000 revellers turn up to enjoy the musical entertainment, stalls and refreshments in the village of Manton, near Marlborough.

It will kick-off with an acoustic stage at 7pm on Friday in the garden of The Outside Chance. Mule will headline supported by The Lost and Found and The Yuke D’ukes along with other acts.

From 11.30am-10.30pm on Saturday, there will be nine local bands including favourites Straight Six, Skedaddle and Onyx, before rock band and headliners T Rextasy take to the stage.

They are the only T Rex tribute act recognised by frontman Marc Bolan’s estate and have performed at Wembley Arena, Hyde Park and venues in Toyko and Sydney.

Various food outlets will also be on offer including pizza, hog roast and gourmet burgers as well as coffee and ice cream. In addition there will be stalls selling a variety of goods for everyone.

There is free car parking, dogs are welcome and picnics allowed.

Chairman of the event Roger Grant said: “Every single penny we raise goes towards the Manton village hall restoration.

“What we’ve tried to do with MantonFest, over the four years I’ve been running it, is have a great mixture of local bands and groups who have the opportunity to perform in front of a large audience.

“We had over 1,000 people last year and we are hoping for 1,500 people this time.”
