PROSPECT Hospice received a boost to its funding when outgoing 2014 captain of Marlborough Golf Club, Gordon Buckett, handed over a cheque to the charity for almost £3,000.
The £2,929.35 donation was a result of a number of fundraising activities held by the club throughout the year to support the hospice, Mr Buckett’s chosen charity of the year.
Mr Buckett, who supports Prospect Hospice as a volunteer van driver, brought with him Howard Banbrook and Barry Norridge, both former captains at the club and who, also volunteer for the hospice.
He said:“It was an obvious choice for me to make Prospect Hospice the charity I wanted to support during my year as captain.”
“Everyone knows that it’s a good local charity, and a very worthwhile cause, and many of us know of people who have been supported by the hospice in their last days.”
Work has now started on the Prospect Hospice outpatient facility at Savernake Hospital which is on course to open in July.
