IN last week’s Devizes edition of the Gazette & Herald, there was an article on Page 8 about the discussion at the Trust for Devizes’ AGM in which our members had a wide-ranging discussion about the issues currently of concern to them.
While we are grateful for the coverage, I would just like to point out that, while the prospect of reviving a Tourist Information Centre is something that the trust would support, it is an issue for the Devizes community as a whole and is not something we would consider doing on our own.
As far as the Shambles market development is concerned, we support Wiltshire Council’s plans to upgrade the indoor market.
The misgivings voiced at our AGM were related to the layout and the viability of current traders.
We have been in communication with Wiltshire Council and are satisfied that these concerns are being addressed.
