PUPILS at Ogbourne St George School have been given a fresh outlook on rubbish and picked up tips on how to help save the planet during their Waste Awareness Week.

The school has put together an Eco Warrior Council made up of ten students, two from each class, who decided what they wanted to focus on and came up with a programme of events for the week.

During waste awareness week they put together a PowerPoint presentation and showed other pupils how to make planters out of plastic bottles using bulbs and compost donated by B&Q in Devizes.

Reception class teacher Sarah Montague, who oversaw the project said: “It’s had a big impact on the school. Even the younger groups have learnt about recycling.

“Every time it comes to tidying away at the end of the day, the children are holding things up and asking if it can be recycled.

“We really appreciate that B&Q all the bulbs and compost because without them we wouldn’t have been able to create the planters.”
