A PARTNERSHIP between a cricket club and a village secondary school has bowled over two village communities.
Potterne Cricket Club has paid for indoor nets to be installed at Lavington School with the help of a grant from Devizes Area Board.
On Friday the nets were officially declared open but they have already been put to good use by the school, cricket club and wider community.
Cricket club vice-chairman Graham Gaiger said the nets were a vital asset for the club's winter training but were also an excellent addition to the school's sporting facilities.
The nets will be available for hire out of school hours.
Mr Gaiger said: "The nets will prove invaluable for us in our Winter senior and junior training programmes and will also enable other clubs and organisations in the area to benefit from them as well."
He thanked school PE teacher Lisa Adams for help.
The nets received a grant of £4,253.60 from the area board to cover half of the cost and £500 from the Queries nomadic cricket side. The rest of the money has come from the cricket club.
