TEACHERS in Chippenham will be getting their faces made funny tomorrow for Comic Relief.

Children who win a raffle at Redland Primary will have the honour of painting the faces of all the staff.

Headteacher Hilary Lambert said: "No adults in school will escape this face painting extravaganza. Even our Wiltshire school improvement partner Paul Blake, who is visiting that morning will not escape this experience."

At Devizes School, teachers have volunteered to be on the receiving end of wet sponges, including headteacher Malcolm Irons.

Among those lining up beside him in the Quad will be heads of houses Colin Herring and Vicky Mackay, and pupils will pay 50p for three sponges.

At Wiltshire College in Lackham, students on the BTEC Level 1 diploma in land based studies held a tractor pull challenge on Tuesday and Wednesday. They also boosted funds with a pool competition, obstacle course and cake sale.

The Queen’s Orang-Utan, a children's book written especially for Comic Relief by comedian David Walliams, was the perfect theme for Tumble Tots active play class in the dome at Chippenham Sports Club on Tuesday.

Toddlers took part dressed in red or in animal clothing, and also had a cake sale and raffle.

Tumble Tots franchisee Debbie Bensley, who herself was dressed as a monkey, said: "We had a lion onesie and a Superman. They were swinging like monkeys and climbing across vines in the jungle."

At Langley Fitzurse School in Kington Langley, children will be painting each other's faces funny tomorrow and have made cakes to sell at a coffee morning.

Calne is also joining in the wackiness with children wanting their faces painted by Fantasy Faces heading to the Community Hub from midday until 4pm.

Women from Calne based Meet and Greet group MAGgies will be collecting donations and running a cake stall.

Face painter Clemency Bedford said: “I was enthusiastic to do something. I have done quite a few community events over the last few months. I’m not sticking a price on it, just asking for a donation to the charity.”
