Giving the elderly greater security in retirement is vitally important to me. I strongly support the Conservative’s ‘triple lock’ of the state pension, ensuring that year on year the value of pensions increases and the commitment to maintaining universal pensioner benefits.
I know from painful personal experience how devastating it can be to see close friends and family suffering in old age and I want us to do more to help those with dementia. I have signed up to become a Dementia Friend and plan to team up with Alzheimer’s Research UK to host a public meeting to discuss dementia research.
This is an incredibly important area. With more than 7,000 people in Wiltshire living with dementia, the need for treatments that can improve quality of life or slow or stop dementia cannot be overstated.
I encourage everyone to join me by signing up at dementiafriends. org.uk.
