STUDENTS at a village secondary school may have taken inspiration from the popular John Lewis Christmas advert featuring a lonely penguin when they were asked to create yuletide cakes.
Both the winning entry and the third place cake in a competition held at Lavington School, West Lavington, near Devizes had a penguin theme.
A total of 50 teenagers in Year 10, who are studying food technology, made the cakes as part of their GCSE course, BTEC Hospitality and BTEC Jamie Oliver Home Cooking courses.
Teacher Anna Woodman, head of art and design, said: “The range of designs is fabulous. Students have shown tremendous attention to detail and finish, each creating a luxury festive cake product that will be enjoyed by their families and friends.”
