A Christmas day lunch in the village is being backed by local firm and volunteers

Susan Connolly, business development manager of the Pewsey Spar store, is organising the lunch.

The Bouverie Hall committee has offered the venue free of charge for the event which is open to people in Pewsey and surrounding villages.

Miss Connolly said: “We have between 20 and 30 people signed up but the hall can seat up around 200.

“Local people have been really great, the butchers have offered to donate and cook the turkey, our suppliers have offered prizes for the raffle and I’ve got a list of volunteers as long as my arm.

"At the moment it’s predominantly older people but it will be open to families with financial difficulties as well.”

The lunch will be served at 1pm followed by the Queen’s speech, tea and cakes. To book a place ring 07585 135531.
