STAFF and children at Forest Nursery in Pewsham stepped out among the autumn leaves on Friday in memory of a former staff member, Hayley Pascoe, who died in August.
More than 20 staff, children and parents took part in a sponsored welly walk to Pewsham Park, raising money for the Make a Wish Foundation.
Miss Pascoe, 21, who lived in Chippenham with fiancé Alex Smith and one-year-old son Joshua, died on August 23 after discovering she had a brain tumour. She was on the support staff as an Early Years practitioner at the nursery in Forest Lane.
Catherine Coates, director at Forest Nursery, said: “This was her dream job and we intended to take Hayley on as a permanent member of staff.
“Each year we do sponsored events and so this year we decided to raise money for Make a Wish in Hayley’s memory.
“We hope to have raised over £100 and we still have money coming in.”
The nursery chose the charity, which grants wishes of children and young people living with life-threatening illnesses, as Miss Pascoe was a supporter.
Mr Smith, 23, said: “It was absolutely amazing that they did this in her memory.”
The couple lived in a flat in Queens Square, but Mr Smith has now moved to Bath with Joshua to live with his parents.
