This week, Michelle Donelan, the Prospective Member of Parliament for the Chippenham constituency, visited two of Wiltshire's most high-tec engineering employers, Siemens Rail Automation and Dyson.

Michelle was invited to Siemens to learn more about how the Chippenham based company has become of international importance in the rail industry.

Michelle met many of their 700 employees from their Chippenham HQ.

"I aim to meet at least two local businesses each week to discuss their challenges and opportunities for growth.

"I spoke to the Siemens team about the opportunities offered to young people seeking employment and how they are promoting engineering as a sector.

"Siemens recruits 30 apprentices each year from within Wiltshire. They also offer a graduate program."

Following her visit to Siemens, Michelle visited Dyson in Malmesbury with Prime Minister David Cameron.

Dyson employs thousands of local residents and Michelle was keen to hear about the company's plans for expansion and creation of over 3000 new jobs.

Sir James Dyson invited the Prime Minister and Michelle as he unveiled his ambitious £1billion expansion plans.

"Both Siemens and Dyson are world leading Wiltshire engineering companies," said Michelle.

"Full time, permanent, good quality jobs in manufacturing and engineering are exactly what we need here. 'More local jobs' are part of my clear, long-term plan for Wiltshire and I will work with our local businesses to help them grow and employ more local people."

The number of people in work in Wiltshire has increased dramatically since 2010 but Michelle's aim is full employment in the local area, giving all families the security of a regular pay packet.
