This week, Michelle Donelan, the Prospective Member of Parliament for the Chippenham constituency, visited two of Wiltshire's most high-tec engineering employers, Siemens Rail Automation and Dyson.

Michelle was invited to Siemens to learn more about how the Chippenham based company has grown to become of international importance to the rail industry. Michelle met many of the 700 employees from their Chippenham HQ.

Michelle said: "I aim to meet at least two local businesses each week to discuss their challenges and opportunities for growth.

"I spoke to the Siemens team about the opportunities they offer to young people seeking employment and how they are promoting engineering as a sector.

"Siemens recruits 30 apprentices each year from within Wiltshire. They also have a graduate program.

"Siemens is helping the community and showing the way forward for other companies."

Michelle also visited Dyson in Malmesbury with Prime Minister David Cameron. Dyson employs thousands of local residents and Michelle was keen to hear about the company's plan for expansion and creation of over 3000 new jobs.

"Both Siemens and Dyson are world leading Wiltshire engineering companies," said Michelle.

"Full time, permanent, good quality jobs in manufacturing and engineering are exactly what we need here.

"More local jobs are part of my clear, long-term plan for Wiltshire and I will work with our local businesses to help them grow and employ more local people."
