Police are appealing for witnesses after three cars were involved in an accident on the A4 at Chequers Hill between Chippenham and Corsham.
The incident took place just before 7.15pm on Saturday.
It is understood the incident involved a silver Volkswagen Polo travelling towards Chippenham and a green Saab 900 and subsequently a grey BMW estate both travelling towards Corsham.
The Volkswagen Polo driver, a 39-year-old local man, and the grey BMW estate driver, a 56-year-old local man, were taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by ambulance and air ambulance.
Both are in a stable condition but are said to have multiple injuries.
The driver of the Saab suffered some injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
