On behalf of Barnardo’s, I would like to thank the Chippenham Gazette & Herald and photographer Diane Vose for featuring our emergency services event in Rudloe (‘Young crew see services’, September 4).
The event was organised by our Corsham Children’s Centre and encouraged young people to feel comfortable with local lifesavers.
They can sometimes be intimidated by uniforms, flashing lights and sirens so we wanted to show them that there is nothing to fear.
It was a very busy morning and a great way to bring the community closer together, while also inspiring people to learn more about how our team can help children to achieve their potential.
Corsham Children’s Centre not only serves Corsham but also the neighbouring villages of Box, Colerne, Yatton Keynell, Gastard, Lacock and Kington St Michael.
The project provides a wide range of free activities including parenting programmes, soft play sessions and support with speech and language, plus groups for dads and new mums, as well as links to health services, training and employment.
