Devizes cat owner Jane Liquorish who thought she had been reunited with her missing cat Einstein was stunned to be told it wasn't him.
Einstein went missing on January 4 at the household recycling centre at Hopton Industrial Estate when he jumped out of Mrs Liquorish's husband's van.
Following an appeal in the Gazette a householder in Waiblingen Way contacted Mrs Liquorish after spotting a cat.
Mrs Liquorish collected the cat last week and was convinced it was Einstein but a micro chip test at the vets proved it wasn't.
Mrs Liquorish said: "The cat had exactly the same collar as Einstein. Even the children thought he was our cat but when we took him to the vets for a check up the micro chip told us he was another missing cat and it was reunited with its owners."
Einstein is two-years-old, black with a gold collared collar. People who see him are asked to call Mrs Liquorish on (01380) 739398.
