A 53-year-old man accused of repeatedly raping a young girl over a two and a half year period is to face trial by jury.
Robert Campbell of Kings Avenue, Corsham, pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault and not guilty to six counts of rape when he appeared before a judge at Swindon crown court on Friday The youngster, now in her early thirties, was aged ten and eleven years old when Campbell indecently assaulted her in 1987 and 1988.
He is accused of raping her on six occasions between late 1987 and May 1990 when she was aged from eleven years old to 13 years old.
The case was adjourned for trial on Tuesday April 10 and Campbell was released on unconditional bail.
