Hopes are growing that Wanda, Wiltshire's wandering wallaby, can finally be safely captured.

Phil Brady, who has set up a Facebook page dedicated to her safe return after she escaped from her enclosure near Marlborough on July 2, said today: "We have almost 400 members so far and everyone's on the lookout.

"We have designed posters to put up around the villages and local businesses, Wessex Print and Cat Communications have printed and laminated them for us. She is also on the Doglost website thanks to their volunteers who are also with Wiltshire Wallaby Watch.

"We have organised a community link up and we now have volunteers from all over the county helping us distribute them in the area. We are targeting shops, pubs, cafes and we are also pinning them to posts throughout the region.

"Wanda was spotted this morning at Ramsbury Brewery.

"The police and owners are on the case and we will be on Wallaby alert all weekend to organise a rescue mission.

"This has been a great exercise of community spirit where complete strangers have gone out of there way to help a lost animal. The empathetic efforts of the Wiltshire community have been overwhelming.

"We are now very hopeful of Wanda's safe return so if you spot her please call 101 and text the number on the posters. Please don't chase her as this will frighten her and will make it almost impossible for us to rescue her.

"Join our Facebook group The Wiltshire Wallaby Watch and download and print some posters if you can help us put the message out."
