Two youths were arrested for causing criminal damage to vehicles in Devizes after a call from a member of the public who saw them.
Police were called at about 11.40pm on Saturday to TH White in Nursteed Road, and arrested a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old. They have been released on police bail.
A white Transit van had the driver’s side window smashed and damage caused to the windscreen while a Peugeot 406 had a rear passenger window and front driver’s window smashed.
Sgt Joanne Spencer, of Devizes Police, praised the member of the public who called 999.
She said: “The prompt actions of the member of the public when he witnessed youths causing damage to vehicles led to the arrest of two youths, who are currently on bail whilst further enquiries are carried out.
“By immediately calling the police and remaining in the area without confronting the males, the caller gave police the best possible chance of catching the offenders.”
