On behalf of the Malmesbury Living History group, I should like to thank the people of Malmesbury for the wonderful way they welcomed the re-enactors from Colonel Nicholas Devereux’s Regiment of Foote and the Marquess of Winchester Regiment to the town for our Living History Re-enactment weekend. The re-enactors have asked us to pass on their appreciation for the way our town turned out to make them feel at home.

So many people came out to meet them, talk to them and learn about the way of life they had come to demonstrate.

They kept telling us how much they were enjoying themselves simply because of the way the town had responded to them.

We were a very small committee and it took a great deal of our time and effort to put the event together, but we could not have done it without the financial support of all our sponsors and supporters, in particular Blount & Maslin, Hilditch Group Ltd, James Dyson Foundation, Front Room Marketing & Design, Heritage Lottery, Athelstan Museum, Shipton Mill, Malmesbury Carnival Committee, Malmesbury Civic Trust, Malmesbury Town Council and the Warden & Freemen Of Malmesbury.

I would of course also like to thank the army of volunteers who helped over the weekend and, most of all, my thanks go to all the people of the town and visitors who turned out to watch, listen and interact with the re-enactors.

It made us all feel so very proud of our town. Well done Malmesbury and thank you.
