I would like to communicate my support for the suggestion made in last week’s edition of the Gazette & Herald on the letters page made by one of your readers.
The idea of a financial contribution towards the international Chippenham Folk Festival is one that I would be willing to embrace. I am a beneficiary of this annual event as I continue to be the host to guests arriving from as far as the United States of America, as well as all parts of the United Kingdom.
It is important for Chippenham to retain the festival, not just for business but for sheer enjoyment. It should not be left to just individuals who willingly give their free time to bear the sole responsibility of making sure the festival continues in Chippenham. The wider Civic Society also has its part to play and I therefore endorse the suggestion made.
