I was horrified to read in your paper last week (June 5) Mr John W Conley’s letter regarding funding for the folk festival.
Yes we all appreciate how much this annual event does for our town, but please do not forget Doorway.
Nobody knows when their circumstances might change and we have no right to be judgemental and dismiss the horrendous problems of being homeless.
Doorway in Chippenham gives support and hope to some very vulnerable people and long may they have the funding to do this fantastic work.
The skateboard park is another matter. We regularly hear that the younger members of society have nothing to do.
When our children were young, many years ago, they did not have skateparks, but were normally happy to make their own entertainment. How times have changed.
Terry Thomas, Burleaze, Chippenham.
