I was interested to read your editorial in My Word (Gazette and Herald, May 29). I think that you were fortunate to wait only ten days to see your GP.
I rang my surgery in Marlborough at the end of last month to ask for an appointment and was informed that there was a five-week wait to see my ‘own’ GP and 18 days to see one of the others! I was quite amazed at this and made the quicker appointment for June 17.
I called into the surgery the next day to confirm there really was such a long wait and was told that it was the case. I enquired as to the reason for the five weeks to see my registered GP and was told that “she is very busy”.
Apart from the setting up of a second practice locally it seems set to be an ongoing worsening situation.
I have never missed an appointment either with a GP or at hospital and do resent paying the price of more inconsiderate others.
I have to say that having had quite a few appointments at GWH over the last year I have never had to wait very long, but I suppose if others are not turning up on the day it shortens the waiting time of us who do.
