Pensioner Geoff Elkins is taking a well-deserved rest after cycling 1,100 miles from Lands End to John O’Groats in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
Mr Elkins, of Cotswold Close, Calne, took three weeks to complete the challenge, beginning at Lands End on April 28 and finishing on May 19.
The 69-year-old retired painter and decorator has already collected £927 in sponsorship money for the British Heart Foundation.
He suffered a heart attack four years ago, when he had a small tube called a stent inserted to improve the blood supply to his heart.
His wife Margaret, 67, said some people donated money after seeing him cycling and he still hopes to reach his £1,000 target.
She said: “He wasn’t overweight and he wasn’t suffering with high blood pressure or anything. He’s always been fit, he didn’t take long to make a recovery. He didn’t let it get him down at all.”
