Talks over bid for £1.19m sixth form centre in Marlborough

2:00pm Tuesday 3rd June 2014

Plans to build a £1.19 million sixth form centre at St John’s in Marlborough will be discussed by the Eastern Area Planning committee on Thursday.

The committee will decide whether to give the green light to the project which Marlborough town council has already opposed because of parking and road safety worries and fears that the two-storey building will overlook neighbouring houses.

At the moment the academy has the capacity for 1,500 students and is over subscribed by about 120 pupils.

If the centre is given the go-ahead the school will be able to offer to 1,700 places.

The meeting will be held at The Corn Exchange in Devizes from 6pm.
