Pupils from Priestley Primary School in Calne have helped to create a space for reflection to mark the centenary of the First World War.
Ten pupils from the school, aged five to six, sowed poppy seeds at the green near to Vicarage Close and Abberd Pond on Friday, May 2.
They will be visible from a new bench, to be placed further up the bank, and aim to help people reflect on those who died in battle.
The project was organised by The Friends of Abberd Brook, which was given £1,000 by Calne’s area board to buy the bench and the poppies.
Staff at Johns Associates, in Limpley Stoke, prepared the ground and the group also had a visit from Marden Vale team rector Bob Kenway and Calne Royal British Legion president Paddy Croxford.
Friends chairman Francis Bosworth said: “The vicar turned up and joined in the fun. We had the president of the Calne British Legion give a brief account of why we were sowing the poppy seeds.”
