Popular landlords Mark and Harriet Jenkinson have left The George at Sandy Lane in capable hands to pursue careers outside the pub trade.

The couple, who have run the pub for more than four years, built up their business by offering good pub food and a friendly family atmosphere.

Now they wish to spend more time with friends and family, and have handed over to Raff Weaver who has been working at the pub for the past two years.

Mrs Weaver helped in the kitchen and is used to organising catering events for family and friends.

She will run the pub with her son-in-law Jon Russell, who will run the bar, and her 21-year-old daughter Erin who also used to work at The George.

Mrs Weaver said: “I jumped at the chance. I thought I have to do it and better to be here in such a beautiful pub. I’m hoping to put my own mark on it.

“We’re hoping to do really good pub food with an Italian twist on it. People seem pretty excited and we’re very much looking forward to it.”
